Forest Management Planning in Gippsland

Forest Management Plans are made under State legislation and contain objectives for forest management, strategies for meeting those objectives and priority management actions.

New Forest Management Plans are due by December 2023 and are to be reviewed every ten years thereafter. The new plans will reflect the multiple values and uses of our forests and guide how they are managed into the future. Development of the plans requires community engagement and place-based decision making, evidence-based decision making that balances the range of forest uses, climate change adaptation and the enabling of First Nations People's self-determination.

The Gippsland Forest Management Planning team wants to make sure all our forest users have an opportunity to contribute to the development of those plans. By sharing your information and ideas you will help us build a comprehensive database of what the public values about our forests, (and why) and an understanding of how you think our forests should be managed into the future.

The information and ideas you share about Gippsland's forests and reserves will help us develop plans that reflect the values, experiences, and aspirations of those who know and love them.
